When a person develops an addiction, it can take control and affect all aspects of the addict’s life. When the situation becomes unsustainable, the concern of family or friends, and even in moments of clarity that of the affected person themselves, leads to seeking professional help and considering admission to a detoxification center<\/strong>. Taking this step is not easy, as it is not a routine decision. There are many questions that need to be answered. Will the treatment offered be appropriate? Will the facilities meet the necessary standards for a place of this nature? These are some examples of the factors that must be considered. Of all of them, there is one very important factor that refers to the Professional Team that brings a detoxification center<\/a> to life. <\/p>\n

The professionals are the people who will be with the patient throughout the entire rehabilitation process. They will accompany them during this recovery period, so their roles and skills are fundamental to successfully reaching the end of the process. Doctors, nurses, therapists, monitors<\/strong>, etc., must be available 24 hours a day, every day of the year, ready to help and guide the patient in whatever they need. We are talking about medical services and therapeutic services. Evidently, having a trained, specialized, and competent team is one of the fundamental aspects to consider when looking for a center for addiction treatment. <\/p>\n

Medical Services<\/strong><\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

The medical team<\/a> intervenes from the first step of detoxification, establishing a pharmacological treatment and monitoring the patient’s progress throughout the entire process. When approaching the treatment that a person will follow, we find two aspects: pharmacological and therapeutic.<\/strong> Depending on the addiction, only one or the other may be applied. Although the most common approach, especially in substance addictions, is a combination of both. In the case of medical treatment, it consists of using medications to reduce the addiction and promote less aggressive behavior that can even lead to criminal activity. Similarly, medications help relieve symptoms of nausea, vomiting, or pain directly related to the first stage of detoxification and thus reduce the desire to consume drugs or alcohol. <\/p>\n

Having a competent medical team is essential in addiction treatment since each treatment must be individualized. Because each patient needs a personalized program and medication, different from another who may consume the same type of drug. The uniqueness of the patient, the addictive process, the environment in which they operate, their way of reacting, their underlying pathology\u2014all of this may make one type of approach preferable over another. <\/p>\n

Nursing services are also fundamental in a detoxification center. They are responsible for the medical functioning of the center and perform management, medication, treatment, care, and patient observation duties during the first days of admission. The nursing team needs to have a high level of empathy<\/strong> with those admitted in their struggle to overcome addiction. In this regard, nurses must be prepared to respond to different situations that may arise, such as anxiety attacks, psychomotor agitation, or withdrawal cases. <\/p>\n

The Therapeutic Team<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In addition to pharmacological treatment, necessary to address the symptoms of the early stages of the detoxification process, the therapeutic aspect becomes essential throughout the entire treatment. It is the responsibility of the center’s therapeutic team<\/a> to conduct evaluations and diagnoses of pathologies that may interfere with recovery. This is the starting point for analyzing each case and implementing the corresponding therapy. <\/p>\n

In the therapeutic treatment approach, the most common practice is to combine individual therapy with group therapy<\/strong>. In the case of individual psychotherapy, the goal is to help the patient with problems caused by consumption and withdrawal in an intimate and confidential manner. On the other hand, group therapies help the resident identify with group members. In this way, conflicts are resolved and behavioral changes in their lifestyle are promoted. And we must not forget the role that the center’s psychologists play with the residents’ families. They communicate the progress of the addiction treatment<\/a> and what types of methods and tools are being applied to combat it. <\/p>\n

Another fundamental element of a detoxification center for successfully achieving patient recovery is the Monitor Team. This is the staff that has the most direct contact with the resident. They accompany them during most of the day in carrying out different activities that may be sports-related, recreational, cultural, etc., always designed and developed with each patient’s recovery as the objective.<\/strong> <\/p>\n

Once the admission phase is completed, the relationship between the Center and the person does not end. The entire team will remain by their side and accompany them during the recovery process through weekly follow-up. <\/p>\n

One of the most important elements when looking for a detoxification center is the Human Team that has been formed. The patient must feel supported at all times to face a rehabilitation that will be difficult at times. Empathy and professionalism are two key factors in the person-patient relationship.
