PMA<\/strong> or para-methoxyamphetamine, also known as fake ecstasy, Dr. Death, or pink ecstasy, is a stimulant with psychedelic effects and is a substance considered highly toxic<\/a>. It is very dangerous and has caused deaths because it is sold as MDMA<\/strong> (ecstasy) pills but is much more harmful. As such, it is one of the most dangerous substitutes for MDMA in recreational contexts, as they are sold as the same substance. <\/p>\n

Regarding the effects, they are similar to those of MDMA, causing sensations of well-being, alertness, and increased energy. However, PMA, being more toxic than MDMA, takes longer for its effects to appear, which in many cases leads some people to take more than one pill in a short period of time. This can cause acute intoxication and even death. <\/p>\n

It is normally consumed orally. It can be found marketed as red, pink, or yellowish pills, or as white, pink, or yellowish powder. <\/p>\n

Physical effects<\/strong><\/p>\n

One of the most specific symptoms of fake ecstasy is the increase in body temperature, which can be more aggressive than that of MDMA. Therefore, not hydrating or hydrating with alcohol can lead your body to a hyperthermic response, raising your temperature to a limit that can put your life at risk. <\/p>\n

Other effects it can cause are tachycardia; hypertension; involuntary and rapid eye movements; and at higher doses, kidney failure and death. It also causes an increase in blood pressure and pulse. <\/p>\n

Psychological Effects<\/strong><\/p>\n

These are very similar to those of ecstasy. It causes a sensation of alertness and a distortion of the senses, making them more intense, which can lead to a lack of ability to socialize and incoherent behaviors. <\/p>\n

If consumed frequently, it can produce a long-term decrease in brain functions, which can lead to states of anxiety and nervousness, affective disorders, irritability, depression, lack of sleep, paranoia, and panic attacks.<\/p>\n
