This effect occurs to a greater extent in hygiene, cosmetic, or clothing products. As in so many other situations, the difference is transparent in a society that has blind spots into which we all fall.  <\/p>\n<h4>Does a cultural &#8220;pink tax&#8221; exist and in what situations is it evident?<\/h4>\n<p>According to an article in El Mundo this week, the cultural \u201cpink tax\u201d can also affect women with addiction. Focusing on alcoholism, the article explained the social stigma associated with being a female alcoholic. And how it tends to isolate the person as a \u201cfemale alcoholic\u201d rather than just an \u201calcoholic.\u201d  <\/p>\n<p>Historically and socially, the image of women has been accepted and validated. These are individuals who must maintain their composure and domestic obligations. And whatever the situation: family, children, abuse, or household chores.  <\/p>\n<p>A female alcoholic carries the \u201cguilt\u201d of her addiction, but she is also more guilty for being an \u201cirresponsible\u201d or \u201ccareless\u201d woman. Socially, she is placed in the spotlight for putting her family&#8217;s life at risk, in addition to her own.
