Unlike genetic syndromes, FAS occurs during embryonic gestation and is not caused by a genetic coding error.  <!--more--><strong>Its cause is the mother&#8217;s intake and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #0081dc;\"><a style=\"color: #0081dc; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/ccadicciones.es\/tratamiento\/desintoxicacion-del-alcohol\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">alcohol abuse<\/a><\/span> (ethanol) during the period of fetal development before birth.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <strong>general physical and psychological characteristics<\/strong> of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Height and weight deficit<\/li>\n<li>Microcephaly (head small for age)<\/li>\n<li>Developmental problems<\/li>\n<li>Organic problems<\/li>\n<li>Facial abnormality<\/li>\n<li>Poor locomotor coordination<\/li>\n<li>Presence of ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder)<\/li>\n<li>Atypical behaviors: screaming, flapping<\/li>\n<li>Conflicting socialization<\/li>\n<li>Lack of imagination or curiosity<\/li>\n<li>Learning difficulties<\/li>\n<li>Intellectual disability of varying degrees<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This month we were able to read a <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #0081dc;\"><a style=\"color: #0081dc; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"http:\/\/revistaindependientes.com\/beber-sin-haber-nacido\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">good report<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/strong> published in <span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>InDependientes magazine<\/strong><\/span>, specialized in addictions, about Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and its consequences for affected children, many of whom live with adoptive families due to the dysfunctionality of their biological environments and <strong>come from Eastern European countries<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">These cases led the Catalan government to consider prohibiting adoptions from Ukraine and Russia in Catalonia; however, a spokesperson for affected parents argues that <strong>&#8220;the risk of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome should be reported, but adoptions should not be prohibited&#8221;<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The article emphasizes the importance of <strong>early diagnosis<\/strong> to identify and address the child&#8217;s needs as soon as possible.
