Tucibi is very similar to cocaine, and although it is known as “pink cocaine”, it has nothing to do with this drug. Due to its English name, 2CB, it is one of the trendy drugs that has burst onto the scene in Spain in recent years, mainly in large cities.
What is Tucibi?
2CB is one of the drugs that has gained popularity among young people in recent times. This substance may be referred to by other names, such as Venus, Eros, Nexus or Pink Powder. It is a synthetic drug that was created in a laboratory in 1974 in the United States and, over time, spread to the rest of the world. Although its origins go back several decades, it is only recently that its use and popularity have grown in Spain.
This addictive substance belongs to the amphetamine family and is considered another designer drug. It is also known as “the high-society drug” due to its high cost. In fact, a gram of 2CB can cost around 900 euros. It comes in powder form and is taken intranasally or orally. It can be identified by its pinkish colour, which is why people also call it “pink cocaine”. However, it has nothing to do with cocaine beyond the derivative names.
Tucibi use is rapidly absorbed. It takes only about fifteen to twenty minutes to take effect, and the average duration is between 4 and 8 hours. Once in the brain, it releases large doses of dopamine, noradrenaline and adrenaline. It mainly causes an alteration of all the senses and changes the perception of the world with visual and thought hallucinations.
Effects of 2CB
This synthetic drug produces effects similar to those of ecstasy and LSD. These symptoms are psychedelic in nature, and the most common include:
- Visual and auditory hallucinations
- Perceptions of reality different from normal
- Increased awareness or mental stimulation
- Reduced fatigue
- Mood changes ranging from enthusiasm to introspection
- Altered perception of time and space
Other more harmful effects of the drug that may also occur are:
- High blood pressure
- Tachycardia
- Headaches
- Dizziness
- Vomiting
- Blurred vision
- Insomnia
- Seizures
The long-term effects of frequent 2CB use are very dangerous and can be devastating. Some of them are:
- Anxiety and depression
- Disorientation
- Psychosis
- Personality changes
- Cardiac arrest, angina or heart attacks
- Respiratory system problems
- Severe arrhythmias
In Spain, drug use such as 2CB has spread considerably throughout the country. Although this drug has seen an increase in use in recent years, it is still little known in general terms. Therefore, its detection and the extent of the risks it entails are difficult to calculate.
