How do Spaniards use drugs, at what age, differences between men and women…?
Spain is one of the European countries where the most drugs are consumed. Indeed, we rank among the top for cocaine and cannabis use, as pointed out by the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction. By age group, the study indicates that young people are attracted to prohibited illegal drugs such as cannabis or cocaine, although they usually start with tobacco at 16. Meanwhile, among those over 35, the consumption of tranquilizers (legal substances sold in pharmacies) is prevalent.
El País newspaper has prepared an interesting infographic with the most relevant data from the recent report. This report covers alcohol, tobacco, and illegal drugs in Spain and was produced by the Government Delegation for the National Drug Plan (2015).
