CC Adicciones participates in the First Coruña Addiction Meeting (ENAC).

Javier Porto, therapist at CC Adicciones, participated in the first Coruña Addiction Meeting (ENAC) which was held a few days ago in La Coruña. Specialists from all over Spain in the field of addictions, as well as families and patients, took part. The meeting was organized by the Galician Therapeutic Institute (a collaborating center of CC Adicciones in Galicia). Its main purpose was to present the different options and advances in drug detoxification and addiction treatment.

As explained by Televisión de Galicia in this report, cannabis is the second most consumed drug among young people aged 14 to 18, a figure that worries the professional community. According to Javier Porto, “100% of minors attend school. For this reason, the best way to provide information is to go to schools. We always advocate for education.” For his part, the director of the Galician Therapeutic Institute, Alejandro Rodríguez, stated that “addiction remains largely unknown; people don’t quite understand it.”

The meeting also served to create a space for exchange in fields that are still to be explored, as well as to help change the social perception of addicts.
