Saltaplanetas, a virtual scavenger hunt to prevent alcohol consumption in adolescents.
Virtual scavenger hunt to prevent potential problems related to alcohol consumption in adolescents aged 12 to 14. Its promoters are the Foundation for Aid Against Drug Addiction (FAD) and the Government Delegation for the National Plan on Drugs, with the collaboration of the Reina Sofía Foundation. “Gamification” has reached the field of reinforcing anti-drug behaviors.
The activity, played via the Internet, presents a series of interrelated games. The purpose is to facilitate moments of reflection regarding alcohol consumption, as explained by the FAD. All the tests revolve around information about alcohol, its consumption, and the problems derived from it. With the objective of reducing this consumption, delaying the age of onset, and helping to develop a critical discourse toward drinking.
Who can play Saltaplanetas?
The video game website and participation are restricted to students currently enrolled in the first cycle of Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO) in Spain. They may form a team of up to five members. Once the contest is over, the organization will award prizes to the student teams that achieved the highest scores in the ranking.
Urgent measures are needed to raise awareness among young people about the dangers of alcohol and to stop viewing it as the “least dangerous” substance. In a country like Spain, where 37,510 minors have drunk daily in the last 30 days, the headline of a recently published article on our blog summarized the gravity of the current situation: “There are young people who have the brain of a person with Alzheimer’s due to binge drinking”
How to stop drinking?
Alcohol detoxification must be carried out properly. Helping an alcoholic involves convincing them of the importance of seeking professional help. Quitting drinking drastically and without proper support can lead the alcoholic to suffer from withdrawal syndrome, causing tremors, sweating, tachycardia, and anxiety. It is therefore necessary to undergo treatment with medical supervision to stop drinking. Request an initial appointment with CC Adicciones by calling 902 400 426.
