Despite the fact that there is greater sensitivity and concern for health as time goes by, it is also true that new drugs are constantly being created. These are increasingly addictive, a fact that hinders recovery and compromises lives through multiple consequences and side effects. One of these narcotics that has taken a fierce hold in our society in recent years is tussi. A drug with many names, but primarily known by the term pink cocaine due to its appearance when marketed.
Tussi: addiction to the pink powder
Known on the streets as Pink powder, Pink cocaine, Pink cocaine, Venus, Erus, Nexos, and Tucibi, its name originates from the English term 2C-B or “Two-ci-bi.”
Tussi is a synthetic drug that causes psychedelic effects and alters all the senses of the person consuming it. When taken, the user may suffer from visual hallucinations and altered thoughts. In extreme cases of high consumption and/or intoxication, the individual may experience episodes of panic—a side effect very similar to the fear attacks caused by LSD use.
As such, tussi is an addictive substance that belongs to the amphetamine family and is considered a designer drug. It comes in powder form and is taken intranasally or orally. Among regular users of this substance, it is also known as “the high society drug” due to its high cost. It can be identified by its pink appearance, which is why people also call it “the pink cocaine.” Even so, it has no link to cocaine beyond its popular name.
Tussi consumption is digested quickly. It takes effect in approximately fifteen minutes and its average duration ranges between 4 and 8 hours. When it reaches the brain, it releases a large amount of dopamine, noradrenaline, and adrenaline, consequently producing an alteration of all senses and causing visual and cognitive hallucinations.
Effects of Tussi on the body
Although the consequences of tussi vary depending on the amount consumed, the number of doses, and the frequency of use, it is a highly toxic and dangerous drug. When taken, the person’s behavior is rapidly stimulated for the duration of its effects. When consumption is high or repeated in a very short time, hallucinations occur. In any of its variants, this narcotic represents a serious risk to the body and to overall health.
The use of tussi can cause serious harm to the individual, significantly affecting the brain. Suddenly and unexpectedly, the after-effects of use can appear, completely altering the psychological and emotional state of the user. Among the most likely effects, panic and anxiety attacks induced by hallucinations are the most common consequence.
Like other synthetic drugs, tussi causes effects very similar to those of ecstasy and LSD. The person who consumes it takes on a psychedelic nature and, in the short term, may suffer the following effects:
- Visual and auditory hallucinations
- Perceptions of reality that differ from the norm
- Increased awareness or mental stimulation
- Reduced fatigue
- Mood changes ranging from enthusiasm to introspection
- Altered perception of time and space
The long-term consequences of consuming tussi are:
- Severe anxiety episodes
- Disorientation
- Depersonalization
- Extreme fatigue
- Depression
- Psychotic disorders
- Cardiovascular arrest, angina, or heart attacks
- Respiratory system problems
- Severe arrhythmias
In severe cases or where intoxication is possible, other side effects that may occur include:
- High blood pressure
- Tachycardia
- Headaches
- Dizziness
- Vomiting
- Blurred vision
- Insomnia
- Seizures
Composition of pink powder
Pink cocaine contains some of the ingredients of LSD, which is why it can cause hallucinations. In addition, it also contains an indeterminate amount of MDMA—a substance that causes euphoria and makes the person taking it experience an increase in energy and mood, causing immense pleasure. When experiencing the effects of this toxin, the individual believes they have more strength and, as a result, adopts nervous and excited behavior.
Although Tussi or pink cocaine resembles traditional cocaine in its powder form administration, it has no other similarities. However, it is a much more dangerous narcotic because its addictive potential is significantly higher. On a technical level, it can be compared to toxins such as methamphetamines.
