The January blues begin, and so do their challenges

by CC Adicciones

After the Christmas, New Year, Three Kings’ celebrations… we return to our routine with the January blues, and we become aware of our consumption during the previous weeks. January becomes a problematic month, not only financially, but also emotionally and psychologically. In this way, depression, distress and anxiety may increase.

For this reason, after the end-of-year holidays it is necessary to look after emotional health in order to cope with the January blues, also known as the “January crisis”, which can cause distress, apathy and depression.

The December holidays mark the end of a cycle and, at the end of the year, you may find yourself reflecting on the previous year in which the goals you set were not achieved. This can lead to some frustration and disappointment.

Getting back to normal life can be an effort that may lead to relapse after the Christmas holidays, the vacation period, and time spent with family and friends.

What can we do?

Set new goals, including the objectives you did not achieve the previous year and still want to accomplish, and plan them. Look for things that motivate you; you will be more likely to follow through if it is something you truly like and want. Feel that you have a new opportunity to achieve your goals. Make time for friends and good times.

If there is one thing we can choose, it is how we decide to face something.

There is always a way out.

At CC Adicciones, we help you regain values such as self-esteem, a positive attitude towards life, self-control… We work with individual and group therapies through the effectiveness of our therapeutic services. We work together for the well-being of our patients.
